Greetings, fellow outdoorsmen and women. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for picking up this edition of the Sportsman’s News whether it be a physical hard copy you grabbed when you visited your local Sportsman’s Warehouse or the digital edition which was delivered to your email. You are one of nearly a million readers and we value each and every one of you.

We are currently planning our 2014 editorial calendar for the Sportsman’s News and we will finalize it late this month. The “Product Feature” for each month is a major focus on some of the items sold in Sportsman’s Warehouse. This month features “Handguns for Personal Protection” written by certified NRA instructor, prior service U.S. Marine and our very own managing editor Dan Kidder. He is one of the best I’ve seen when it comes to handguns and overly qualified to test and explain the differences as well as the features and benefits of each of these weapons. We make it a point with each of these feature articles to assign them to the very best person for the job. For next year’s feature articles, we are going to take some input from our readers on what products they would like to see featured. We floated this idea out to our 12,000 plus forum members and got tremendous feedback and a bunch of good ideas. The top picks with the most requests were for open faced spinning reels, family sized tents for car camping, trail camera’s and pop-up blinds. Please personally send me your feedback on what items you would like to see tested and reviewed for this feature column prior to November 15th. Requests may be sent to mdeming@sportsmansnews.com.

There are only two months left in our current photo contest before it is closed. Each monthly winner is getting a $100 Sportsman’s Warehouse gift certificate and the four runner-ups get $20 Sportsman’s Warehouse gift certificates. We have two Nikon SLR camera kits as grand prizes which will be selected from the top monthly winners when this contest comes to a close. With the hunting seasons in full swing, we know there are a bunch of you in the field with opportunities to capture that once in a lifetime photo. So, don’t miss out on the last two months. It is simple and easy to register and submit a photo and then it is a matter of getting your friends and family to log on and vote for your picture. You truly hold the ability to win on a monthly basis in your own hands. Good luck; time is running out.
