Hello everyone.  I’ve been away from here for a good while but I had a nice talk with Dan and Lisa this afternoon and that got me restarted about all things forum.  As one of the original members of this forum, I am very pleased to see so many new members who are contributing as well as some old friends who are still here.

Without getting into the details, I had to deal with a death in my family (my son) and a major surgery in the past year and frankly I just didn’t have the energy to do much more than work and take care of the family.  I didn’t even go hunting this past year and that got my wife really worried since November always has meant hunting for me.  Maybe next year.  I haven’t done much shooting for several months either and it is amazing how inaccurate my rifles have become.   ;-)

So, I hope to “see” you all around the forum.  Keep posting and be safe out there!

Glad to see you back, CH. I hope things get better for you.

Life throws us surprises and curve balls at times and we just have to work through them with the help of friends and family. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Take care friend.

It’s good to have you back CH. I’m sorry to hear about your son. I hope you have completely recovered from your surgery and have no other problems with it. For some reason those rifles do have a habit of getting upset and being contrary if they don’t think they’re getting enough attention.Laugh

Thanks, Bob.  I appreciate the kind words.  Without my family and friends I don’t think I would have gotten through it.  Sure is nice to know they are there for me.

You are dead right, BW.  Thanks for the kind words, too.  I’m up and walking around on my own and I no longer take that for granted.  Health is a good thing!

George, it is great to see that you are still here along with the other old heads of the forum.  I’ve missed you guys and I hope to meet some of the new people, too.  Looks like the forum is doing very well.

It’s definitely good to see you back on the forums.  That $500 worth of ammo was a nice welcome back gift, too!

Here’s to continued recovery and good health.

The forums have really livened up since you’ve been back, so it’s better already.Wink

Sometimes life becomes to much even for the strongest of us to hold on our shoulders. You do what you have to do, and hope to come out well on the other end. Family always comes first, no matter what.Take care of you and your own, and life will always pick up again when you’re ready for it.

Sorry to hear things have been down for you, but this is a great forum, and its great to have someone back that has contributed so much. Welcome back and take care! Laugh

Sorry that life went the route it did, glad your back.

However I would say the rifle shoots as it always did, there may be a little user error involved. :)

I haven’t spent as much time on this site as I have in the past either.  The fact that my wife has had two major and two minor surgeries in about the last five months may have had some effect on my time spent here.Frown

I hope she is doing better.  It’s tough having a spouse/loved one under the weather.

From doing a little browsing it looks like people have pretty well stopped posting since they stopped the giveaways.  I know that I am not returning as often.  It is too bad.Frown

It’s sad to see that you have to be giving away things to have a following. Just a thought!

I’m still here, too.  I check in almost daily.  It has been very slow lately.

I agree with Mike above – it’s pretty sad that there has to be something being given away for people to show up.

I’m here too. Like the rest of you I check in almost every day. I haven’t had anything to contribute so I’ve been silent lately, and there really hasn’t been much activity.

Its just summer time, its too hot for most hunting. Fishing is limited too unless I can arrange a long drive up to the mountains. With limited out door activity due to extreme heat, it leaves very little to post about.

Still here, Dan, and plan to stick around.  Say “Hey” to Mike and Dan Kidder for me, Lisa, too.  You are good folks and this forum is much appreciated.  There is a solid core of members even if some of those who were here just for the freebies have drifted away.

Let’s take this thread in a different direction  – I’ve been playing with loads for my Ruger No1 in .375 H&H Magnum.  I found the sweet spot with 300 grain Sierra HPBT bullets loaded over 58 grains of Varget.  One ragged hole at 100 yards.  Whoeever said that Ruger No 1’s won’t shoot never saw this one!  [I will admit the recoil is pretty noticeable and a 10-round range session is enough for me.]

I used to receive e-mails notifying me when someone made a comment on topics I was following.  I don’t believe I have received an e-mail in months.  If I received these e-mails I would probably make more comments.  Has the forum stopped notifying people who are following a certain chain of a topic when someone else makes a comment?

I brought up this problem when they turned on the Pro Membership page. The day it went online I stopped receiving notifications and it never came back. I think it was explained that there is some sort of computer glitch on their end between the two sites.
