Welcome to the general section of the Sportsman's News
Forum. We welcome all your comments ask you to read and abide by the
following forum rules before posting.

1. You must be registered to post. If you would like to post something to this forum, please register.

2. Please be polite and courteous to your fellow posters. The rules
of civility do not cease to exist just because we are in cyberspace. We
can disagree without devolving into personal attacks and name calling.
If you exhibit rude and unkind behavior, you will be banned from the
forum.

3. Please use language appropriate to readers of all ages. Vulgarity and profanity will not be tolerated.

4. This area is for people to seek expertise on all matters that don't have a specific topic dedicated to their questions or comments. If it regards hunting, fishing, camping, or personal defense, please use the appropriate forum.

5. Please use proper forum protocols. If you are in doubt about these
protocols, I am sure our members will remind you. A few examples,
please do not top post your responses. Quote your previous forum comment
and then post your response underneath. This makes it easier to follow
the thread rather than reading from bottom to top.

Thank you and remember, the only stupid question is the one not asked.

Dan,

Are you guys going to expand topics in your forum? Like a hunt report section or a bragging board where one could post pic and/or hunt reports. Then you could also make them either state , region specific or game specific. Also for myself and others that are tech challegened provide instructions on how to post pics?

Thanks

I am registered on the sportman's warehouse site also and have posted pictures there just thought you might do it on this site as well. I didn't know what was posted there would carry over as far as contest here.

Thanks.

As the editor, I assume you can't win prizes, so I suggest you give me credit for all your post to better my odds.  LOL

It was a must for me to keep track of posts for contests. Purely selfish reasons.

I like the time stamps too. I don't see how you keep track of everything going on with the forum and get anything else done anyways.

I am hoping that this takes on such a life of its own that I can’t do anything else, then I can get some of you to moderate. ;-P

That would be cool.  I also like the time feature.  It's nice to see when people posted things!

I think you got your main wish, Dan – that this forum takes off and becomes a place where people who are interested in hunting, fishing, camping, personal defense and just plain old shootin' would like to hang out and exchange information.

From where I sit, you have created the best internet forum that I know of.  I hope this is paying off for SN and SW in terms of attracting advertisers and increasing business.  Good on you for doing this and thanks for giving us all a place to be with others of similar interests.  Personally, I'm very glad to be here!

I agree with CH, I have never commented on any other web-site's forum (I usually just read what people have written).  But this forum is very unique, and I have enjoyed it very much.  I like that it's not a bash where people think they know more than each other like I have seen elsewhere…!  I feel that everyone is welcome and their input is well received.  There are many people here that know a lot about all the topics that are discussed.  I'm glad I'm a part of this forum and I also hope the best for SW/SN!

Friends, I’m bumping this thread up as a reminder.  Language is getting to be a problem among some of the newer members so please take the rule about family-friendly language seriously. For some reason our word-filter is not working since the last software update but the tech staff does know about it already.

In my opinion there should be no need for a word-filter. Grown people should know better, especially if they read the rules Dan has posted at the top of this page. Wasn’t one member banned about a month ago for that very reason? I noticed he hasn’t been back and his post count has been removed is why I asked.

Yes, unfortunately we have had to ban members because of language and other inappropriate behavior.  We do not enjoy doing that but we have to preserve the forum as a family-friendly place that will not embarrass Sportsman’s News, Sportsman’s Warehouse, or any of the advertisers or sponsors.  We do always issue a warning first.

Good suggestions!  It’s always fun to see hunting pictures.  The most thought provoking and memorable hunt picture I’ve seen so far was of a man who had set his camera timer and was displaying his animal while still in the wild.  What he didn’t realize until later was that a big cougar had sneaked up behind him and was sitting there watching him.  Captured by the camera!

(Sorry about the large print above.  I don’t know how that happened, and don’t know how to change the font back to a smaller size.)

Welcome to the forums, Mike.

You were entered into the gear giveaway once just for registering on the site.  You will be given another entry for every 25 posts you make anywhere in the forums.  Stick around – there is a good group of folks that frequent the site, though I expect it will be a little slow for the next week or so as people are busy with other things.

Again, welcome!

Any thread you post on counts in the giveaway and they carry over from month to month. You don’t lose them each month and have to start over. Over a period of time you can build up a lot of posts. The more posts you make the better chance you have of winning. Welcome and good luck.
