I don’t know how many stick flippers frequent the site.  All of you archery discussion would be welcome in the hunting forum, though.

Good idea – I’ll forward to the host and see if it can be done.  In the meantime, feel free to start any archery-related threads you want to.

I think I subconsciously just love being out in the woods or on the water, so I do little things the ensure I have to go again. You know, stuff like moving when a deer is looking or deciding to use the bathroom right before the ducks or geese show up.

I am a stick flipper and would enjoy a archery forum. I also agree with others I use both a rifle and my bow and enjoy the long archery season ( when I can draw a tag in Utah big game lottery nothing for three years now ) .

Welcome to the forums. Crossbows have been legal in Louisiana for years.

I personally have never been bow hunting, but it is something I would like to do.  Having a longer season to chase a deer would be nice also!

I’m with you. I have never done it. The only time I have shot a bow was at summer camps and church camps as a kid growing up. I have always gone back and forth on it as another form of hunting to get into. My deciding factor was expense. With the about money of I spend on guns and invest in shooting equipment, it would be awfully hard to justify another hobby to the wife.

Those who would sacrafice their freedom for a little bit of security deserve neither.
Always Forward.

Yes, I can relate with you about justifying the expense of a new ‘hobby’… or two.  Wink

While attending college, they offered an archery class that also allowed you to take the state hunters education and bow hunters education test (which I did), so I guess you could say I can “legally” hunt with a bow.

That being said, I personally feel that I need much more practice!

I started out in archery with a used bow I bought off of Ebay for about $150 or so.  Since then, I have upgraded to a Bear.

The nice thing about shooting a bow is you get to reuse the ammo. It can be expensive up front and if you are always looking to upgrade, but it’s nice being able to go out and shoot without having to worry about noise or bothering anyone.

The general forum can also be used for non hunting archery posts like arrows and other accessories, the same as the posts made here.
