It’s an all-too familiar dilemma, the elk herd you’ve been tracking all day decides to push over the next ridge.  You hadn’t prepared to hike in so deep, yet you’re not ready to give up on the idea of bringing home a record bull.  It’s decision time – do you follow, or do you call it a day?The maker of Tenzing, the latest brand to enter the elite hunting pack market, wants to remove the question from your mind altogether.  They’ve created what they believe to be the most advanced and durable line of hunting packs available.  And based on the initial reviews, they very well could be right.

Born in the Idaho backcountry, Tenzing packs have been developed with one purpose – to equip hunters to go further.  Each pack has been artfully designed to efficiently organize and quickly access your gear, keeping you prepared for unexpected twists.  And because the point of hunting is to return with more than you came in with, larger packs also come equipped with a separate expandable, breathable meat pocket to carry out your kill.

According the Tenzing creator Jay Robert, the packs were inspired by both his experiences as a hunter and as an owner of one of the largest hunting specialty stores.  “I’ve been there,” said Robert.  “I would find myself packing a light day pack so I could stay mobile, then wishing I had packed more gear once the hunt intensified.  It encouraged me to develop packs that are ultra light, easy to organize and don’t restrict your mobility.

“I’ve also been there when irate customers would return an expensive pack because it had failed on them when they needed it,” added Robert.  “I knew that the ultimate pack would have to be extremely durable to handle the stress of big game hunting.”

Focused on Functional Details
Everything on a Tenzing pack has been carefully thought through – the pockets, the compartment labels and even the straps have been painstakingly planned out.  And because every hunt and every hunter is unique, Tenzing has designed their products to be packed out to meet each trip’s specific needs.  Little details like the signature yellow tie-downs for clipping on accessories and elastic cuffs to manage expansion and compression straps are just two examples of the many innovative features found on these packs.

Dyneema Strength Panels
All stress zones on the Tenzing packs have been reinforced with Dyneema.  This material, acknowledged as the world’s strongest fiber, is fifteen times stronger than steel, yet is light enough to float on water. This innovation gives Tenzing packs unmatched protection against rips, punctures and failures.

Simple and Silent Access
Every Tenzing pocket, closure and zipper has been designed to give you easy and quiet access to your gear.  Yellow-coded zippers and no rattle pulls identify all entry points into the main pack compartment while each key feature is clearly labeled to help keep things organized.

Compression & Expansion Straps
Tightening down your pack or attaching additional gear is made simple with multiple straps strategically placed on each pack.  These adjustable straps dramatically increase the capacity in the off chance that you run out of room in these generously spacious packs.

An All-Star Line-up
The Tenzing hunting pack line includes 10 stellar products that offer a range of features to fit every type of hunt and hunter.  The roster includes large capacity overnight bags and space-efficient day packs.  Here are four favorites.

Image EnlargerTZ 6000
Bigger, stronger and lighter than any comparable pack on the market, the TZ 6000 is the ultimate in long-range hunting gear. This pack takes away any and all limits, allowing you to go further, hunt longer and still carry out the rewards of a successful trip.

With 4,400 cubic inches of storage that can expand to 6,013 cubic inches, it’s hard to believe that this monster pack weighs-in under 8 lbs.  It features 20 specialized compartments and pockets, including a large expandable meat pocket.

TZ 2220
A serious overachiever, the TZ 2220 allows you to hunt light and fast, putting everything you need right within reach.  Whether hunting in warm weather or actively pursuing game by foot, this well-equipped daypack will keep pace and haul everything you need it to and then some.

With storage capacity over 2,220 cubic inches and a total weight of just 4 lbs., this pack offers 11 compartments and the ability to attach additional gear.  It can be easily customized to your needs, making it a pack you can’t hunt without.

Image EnlargerTZ 1140
Built to be the ultimate archer’s pack, the TZ 1140 provides bow hunters complete mobility so they never miss an opportunity to take a shot. The pack’s single sling design fits comfortably over either the left or right shoulder, allowing unrestricted draw and easy access to your bow and gear.

Included in the TZ 1140 are twelve total compartments that account for 1,144 cubic inches of storage space and a specialized bow clip and quiver mount. All these features weigh in at just over 2 lbs.

Image EnlargerTZ  1215W
While it may be made for a lady, there is nothing prissy about this hunting pack.  The TZ 1215W offers the most comprehensive array of features compared to any women’s pack available.  Rugged yet feminine, it packs out 1,215 cubic inches of space in a feather light 2 lbs. 6 oz. design.

The TZ 1215W also features nine compartments including a H2O reservoir pocket, gun/bow carrying boot and foldout rain cover.  Most importantly, it has been specially designed to fit a woman’s physique so women hunters no longer have to choose between fit and function.

The Tenzing Pro Staff Hunters
While Tenzing packs are just hitting the shelves now, the products have already become popular with a number of extreme hunters.  The lightweight, durable design and spacious storage have become a must have for many of the country’s most accomplished hunters, including legendary bow hunter Cameron Hanes.

Hanes has redefined the way people perceive the sport. Describing himself as an athlete that hunts, he pushes himself mentally and physically in order to achieve exceptional results. His commitment, intense training and self-discipline exemplify the benefits of “going further” and make him a perfect ambassador for Tenzing.

Another pro staff member raising awareness for Tenzing is KaCey Struckman.  Combining athleticism, technique and her own sense of style, Struckman is attracting new interest in the sport.  She demonstrates that hunting is no longer just a male-driven activity, and ladies can achieve great success.  Working with Tenzing, she helped develop the TZ 1215W pack, ensuring that women have a high-performance hunting pack that is designed to fit their physique and still stand up to the wear and tear of the hunt.

Putting Tenzing to the Test
To demonstrate the benefits of going further, Tenzing and Sportsman’s Warehouse are teaming up and offering a chance to win a hunt of a lifetime with Cameron Hanes.  This extreme expedition will take one winner on an all-expenses paid big game hunt, where he/or she will learn tips for improving hunting success and have the chance to return with a legendary trophy.  It will be an experience you will never forget.

Starting in June, you can register for the contest at any of the Sportsman’s Warehouse locations or online at http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com.

I checked out their web-site and they all look like very nice packs.  The TZ 6000 would probably be my pick of the bunch!

They look like some amazing packs. I am always looking for a better pack for all the types of hunting I do. I also like the last bit about winning a hunting trip with Cameron Hanes. He is what I considered to be the ultimate hunter. I wish I had half of his endurance but I’m working on it.

Do more than what is expected of you.

I suppose the product was named after Tenzing Norgay – if so, that’s pretty cool.

I never did get around to buying a new pack last year and the TZ 2220 looks right for me.  I like to pack for light and fast and those are the words used in describing the pack.  I’m gonna check this one out.
