Overview

Our family enjoys the outdoors year-round, whether it’s hunting, fishing, shooting, hiking, skiing, boating, or camping. It is what we love and what we do best. We work hard to make sure that your hunt will be successful and strive to make it an incredible experience for you.

The owner of Alaska Summit Guide Service and primary guide, Scott McRae has over 25+ years of professional guiding experience, 20 of which have been directly in Alaska.

“I have worked for several different guides and outfitters over the past 25 years and hope I have taken the best traits from each and left the worst behind as the ‘what not to do’ in the daily running of my business.  I have been guiding hunters professionally for most of my adult life and strive to make each hunt successful and memorable.”  Scott McRae

We are lucky to get to earn a living at what we love to do.  We enjoy sharing this great Alaskan wilderness with each client and there is so much history to share from Alaskan Native history to the pioneers, trappers, and explorers,  Scott loves to share history and can bring books on the area you are hunting in if you would like to read them during down time.  Knowing the history of an area (i.e. who has been there in the past) really brings it to life.

We are committed to ensuring that the animals and landscape we enjoy are available for our three young sons and all future generations to see as we see them today.  We practice low-impact camping and leave-no-trace ethics.  Scott is actively involved in game management meetings and activities and is committed to ethical hunting.

If Scott is not hunting, he is wishing he was hunting, watching hunting, talking hunting or going to a game management meeting. He is an avid bow hunter and outdoorsman. He was raised in the Air Force but landed in Alaska and has been a professional guide for over 25 years. In the off-season Scott runs a successful finish carpentry business. Scott is the proud father of three young boys so if you don’t want to talk about Star Wars or Legos then he’ll be happy to talk to you before, during, and after your hunt. We only take a select number of hunters each season and will give 110% effort to ensure you get the trophy and hunt experience you are after and the right guide for the job.

We are privileged to have taken a couple of great hunters from Under Armour’s show “Ridge Reaper” on the Outdoor Channel.  The first was a brown bear hunt with Bryan Offutt that aired in August of 2014  and the second 2014 dall sheep hunt with Koby Fulks aired in the summer 2015.  “The Edge” has also aired a 2014 Dall sheep hunt with Ryan Kohler on the Sportsmans Channel.

Alaska Summit Guide Service is operated under special use permit with the Chugach National Forest.

Endorsement

Alaska Summit Guides and owner Scott McRae is truly one of the best in the business when you are talking about Alaska hunting and getting a great value. He is passionate about making sure his clients get what they came for and will go to every extent to make it happen (within the law of course). Scott epitomizes our philosophy as a Platinum Approved Outfitter and putting people before profit.

Scott has spent the majority of his adult life in Alaska hunting sheep, goats, moose, and bears and has secured some of the best guide areas to consistently deliver for his clients. If he isn’t guiding you himself, his guides are well vetted and understand his philosophy of business and making sure the clients truly have a trip of a lifetime. Regardless of who is guiding you, you are going to be in good hands and hunting with someone you consider a friend when it is all said and done.

We have found this philosophy with Alaska Summit Guides to be true from the very first evaluation trip we did with him and with all of the clients we have referred to him. When you are planning an extreme wilderness hunt, there are a lot of unknowns. Even if you have done
trips of this magnitude before, each trip has its unknowns. Scott is great on the phone and does a thorough job of getting you mentally prepared for what to expect from the hunt as well as his team. Once you get there, you experience exactly what was discussed. Scott is a master of under promise and over deliver. We will be purchasing sheep, goat, bear, and moose hunts from him for the Pro Membership Sweepstakes giveaway for as long as he will have us. Truly one of the best.
