Our operation is based from the magnificent 11,000 square foot Woodbury Lodge-one of New Zealand’s premier Safari lodges. Custom built from the ground up to provide a world class destination for single hunters, couples, groups, and families. Season is mid February through August each year.
Woodbury is situated in the beautiful province of South Canterbury on the south island of New Zealand, just 90 minutes drive from Christchurch airport. Surrounded by native forest and nestled into the base of the Southern Alps, from Woodbury Lodge we are able to access a number of premier hunting properties daily.
We are 100% New Zealand family owned and operated.
For 25 years I have guided and outfitted in the South Pacific. During this time I have guided three SCI World Record Red Stag and numerous TOP TEN ranking trophies. However, what we are most proud of, is consistently offering high quality hunts each week of the hunting season each and every year.
Your international trophy hunt is only as good as your personal guide. I can say without hesitation, “we have a team of the finest professional guides to ensure a safe and productive hunt.
Sightseeing and shopping can be arranged for the non-hunting members of your group on a daily basis. Self-drive or pay for a driver.
We specialize in package hunts for big Red Stag (trophy – 600 SCI plus), Tahr, Chamois, Fallow Deer, Wapiti, Alpine Goat, Arapawa Ram, Wild Boar, and Whitetail and can arrange any other species in New Zealand and the South Pacific.
Thanks for considering us for your New Zealand hunt and vacation.

Traveling abroad to hunt has the ability to be one of the greatest experiences of your life, but if you pick the wrong outfitter, it can become a costly nightmare. The Sportsman’s News team has visited the South Island of New Zealand to hunt with Fraser Safaris on several occasions. Each trip has been an extremely memorable experience and confirms why we endorse them as a Platinum Approved Outfitter. The Red Stag hunting was done on the home ranch which is loaded with huge Red Stag. Finding a trophy of a lifetime will definitely come about during your hunt, but the sheer beauty of the ranch and surroundings make the hunt go way too fast. When I planned the hunt, I always figured that I would do a Tahr hunt, but wasn’t overly excited about it. After successfully harvesting some monster stag, we focused our attention on the Tahr and Chamois in the steep mountains of the Southern Alps. Although hunting with a helicopter is an option to target game and get you into the general vicinity of your target, we opted for a more traditional foot hunt, keeping the fair chase aspect in play. The climbs for these awesome critters were humbling to say the least, but I’ve never experienced a more rewarding hunt in my entire life. The reward of staging your trophy for a photo after a 3000 foot vertical climb while enjoying the Southern Alps experience is a feeling that will bring me back to Fraser Safaris many times in my life. Lyndsay and his team are some of the best I have had the experience to hunt with in my entire life. – written by Michael Deming
