Nootka Wilderness Lodge is owned and operated by Dave and Irene Fyfe and Brian and Kelly Gage who are on the property and hosting your trip the entire time. I’ve fished for King salmon all over the United States, but I’ve never found a place that had as much action as my trip to NWL. I was impressed with this operation from the very first phone call through the completion of my trip. Everyone on the phone had all the answers to my questions without having to get back with me. The reason for this was evident when I arrived in British Columbia where Irene and Kelly coordinated everything and got us on the float planes and ready for our vacation. Once we arrived at the lodge, the customer service just kept coming. We were greeted by our host and met our guides for the week as we enjoyed a gourmet meal. The food and lodging were some of the best that I have ever experienced anywhere in the world, let alone in such a remote location on a fishing adventure. All of the things within the control of NWL were as good as anyone could ever expect. The fishing would be the icing on the cake and was it ever. In four days of fishing, we successfully landed over a hundred Chinook salmon. The team at NWL told us that they make it a point to only open the lodge for a short period of time each and every year during the prime run of fish and since they have been doing this for many years, they have it down to a science. The only negative to this program is that there are limited availability for the short window of time the lodge is open, so you usually need to book way in advance. If you choose to fish with NWL, you will have a great experience and you will be back many times.
