My name is Jay Reynolds and I am the owner of Open Creek Outfitters in Cody, Wyoming. We are just completing our ninth season and the hunting just seems to be getting better and better. Because of our unique location in Wyoming’s famous Thorofare region adjacent to the east side of Yellowstone National Park, we are able to take advantage of the fall migration of thousands of elk and mule deer on their way to their winter range. There is probably no better area in the west if you are looking to see a lot of animals and have the chance to take a great trophy in some of the most remote and beautiful places in the world. Our hunts start in the first week of September and run through the third week in October. The Open Creek camps are definitely remote and offer some 60 square miles of quality hunting in the thirteen tributaries of the famous drainage. Here, in the heart of the Rockies, the thirty-two mile horseback ride gets you into the two most professionally run elk camps you will ever encounter. I pride myself in having experienced guides, good food and safe, comfortable accommodations. My horses and mules are tried and true. Our wilderness hunts truly do live up to the traditional and successful hunts every hunter dreams of. We have annual kill rates nearing 90% and average 30 – 35 bulls every season. You can also make your hunt a combo by hunting with us during one of the last two weeks, adding the chance of taking a nice mule deer as well during their mad exodus to their winter range near Cody. Give us a call today to book your dream hunt of a lifetime.

It adventure starts at the trailhead, about 40 minutes outside of Cody. You will be part of a horse and mule expedition to their camp, a 32 mile horse pack ride through some of the most beautiful and rugged wilderness you will ever have the chance to see. Because of their remote wilderness setting, you are almost guaranteed to draw an elk tag with only one preference point and because you can apply for a point in the fall, you can then use that point to put in for a tag only a few months later in January. Jay offers great 1 on 1 and 2 on 1 fully guided hunts and I guarantee that once you have experienced what he has to offer, you will definitely be back for more.
