Alaska King Salmon Fishing is one of those joys in life that fulfills several needs — And those needs include lots of BIG FISH! The Togiak River just might be one of the best kept secrets in the world and if you are looking for an unbelievable King Salmon experience, you won’t be disappointed.
Many anglers who have fished all over the world describe it as ‘incomparable’. One of the biggest reasons why the Togiak River is so productive, is the absence of pressure, with the Togiak River Lodge being the only permanent structure lodge on the river. In June and July the river welcomes back great numbers of King Salmon as they make their way up the exceptionally clear, slow moving currents to their eventual spawning grounds throughout the area.
Come August, Silver Salmon fishing on the Togiak is just plain, non-stop action. The salmon come in by the tens of thousands and often times you can catch a silver on nearly every cast. If you enjoy acrobatic fish that jump and twist and turn from the moment you hook up, then you are in for a treat. Togiak River Silver’s will have you going cross-eyed with confusion on which group of fish to cast to at times.
Spinners and spoons work amazingly well and your guide will have the secret ticket of which lure to use for the gear fishermen. And fly fishermen, get ready for heaven! This is an anglers dream with lots of braided sections to the river, gravel bars, room for wading and countless fish to cast at and catch. Tail-walking, chrome bright treasures they call “Togiak Silver” will pull on the end of your line and challenge your skills.
Alaska Rainbow Trout fishing is a true joy on the Togiak River as well. Beautiful rainbow trout can be caught throughout the entire season of June through September. The fish range in size up to and over 30+ inches with the best fishing times for bigger fish caught being August and September.
And you will hardly be able to tell you are in the middle of the wilderness as you will have all of the comforts of home with great accommodations, wonderful home cooked meals, first class fishing equipment provided and the most gorgeous views you can imagine in every direction.
